Snapchat Lenses

Snapchat's Latest

Snapchat in updates makes a pretty big change, it added new Feature called "Add Nearby" this feature is a quick way to add a group of friends when you’re all hanging out together. If everyone opens Add Nearby, a list of your friends will appear on the screen. Just tap to add.

Apart from this it also makes viewing snaps much easier instead of pressing and holding the screen to view a Snap or Story simply Tap or View. Thise means no more tired thumbs while watching a several hundred second Story.

Snapcodes also got a serious upgrade :) You can add a selfie to the center of your Snapcode, so that it’s easier for friends to recognize you when you add them on Snapchat. If you see a Snapcode in another app, just take a screenshot. You can add screenshotted Snapcodes through Add Friends.

To increase user security, Snapchat also rolled out two-factor authentication to improve Snapchat overall security. Once you enable it, bad guys will have a much harder time if they try to hack into your account.

How to Add Snapchat Add Nearby?

Add Nearby is perfect for when you meet a group of new friends and want to add them on Snapchat. Have everyone open Add Nearby at the same time to find each other. If no results appear after a minute, simply tap to search again.

To use Add Nearby, follow these steps:

1. Tap the ghost icon at the top of your camera screen.
2. Tap ‘Add Friends.’
3. Tap ‘Add Nearby’ and select ‘Ok’ to allow Snapchat to use your location for finding nearby Snapchatters.
4. Ask a friend to open Add Nearby on their phone.
5. Tap the ‘+’ sign next to your friend’s username to add them! If a friend adds you, we’ll let you know!

If you do not recognize a name, it might be a Snapchatter you haven’t met who also has Add Nearby open.

Some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) About Add Nearby

How close does someone have to be to find them using Add Nearby?
Add Nearby is designed to show Snapchatters in your immediate vicinity, like a restaurant. Add Nearby relies on the GPS location reported by Snapchatters' devices, so it might not always be totally accurate.

If I do not have Add Nearby open can someone find me?
No. Add Nearby only works when both Snapchatters have Add Nearby open.

If I blocked an account on Snapchat, can they find me on Add Nearby?
No. Accounts you have blocked cannot see you on Add Nearby, even if you’re in close proximity and both have Add Nearby open.

Barely a month after Snapchat introduced Lenses feature, the company added a new set of filters called “Speed Modifiers” for videos shoot on iOS or Android. This new feature allows Snapchatters to add slow-motion, rewind, and fast-forward filters to their videos. Rather than puke rainbows, users will also now be adding something closer to special effects to video Snaps. Just swipe sideways after shooting a video and you’ll eventually see them applied to your snap.

This feature opens up tons of creative opportunities. One can imagine people stringing together fast-forward, then rewind, then slow-mo clips to create a sort of highlight snap. The video filters will give normal people with just their phones the same special effect superpowers as a professional video editor. Snapchat is iterating on its platform fiercely, with new updates and functionality coming out as ways to attract new, paying users and advertisers. Earlier this month, the Financial Times reported that company was looking into Sponsored Lenses. With a business model focused around ads, Snapchat has to keep people coming back to watch as much content as possible. The better the content on Snapchat looks, the more they’ll come back to see the weird little moments from the lives of friends and celebrities.

How does the new Snapchat video filters work?

To use or enjoy the new video filters, you will first need to update the app which is available in the App Store and on Google Play or just tap the Snapchat app already installed for latest updates. Please note that updated app version is 9.18.0.0.

Slow-Motion: It reduces the speed of your video so that your friends can see everything in excruciatingly slow detail. After you shoot a video in the latest version of the app, simply swipe left or right until you see three arrows (rewind) or a snail symbol (slo-mo).

Fast-Forward: It makes your video play faster, which is great for sight gags of people falling, like in the example up top

Rewind: It plays your video back at the same speed but in reverse or it plays the video backwards.

The new update also includes 3D Touch features for users on iPhone 6S and 6S Pluses, allowing Snapchatters to quickly chat with contacts or add friends. You can strong tap on your Snapchat homescreen icon to quickly reach options for sending a snap or adding a new friend.

How To Use New Snapchat Trophies

Swipe down from the main screen to bring up your personal Snapchat code and you'll see a new trophy icon above it. Tap it and you'll see what trophies you've managed to unlock - they're basically achievements like you get on computer games.

At the time of writing there are 16 to unlock and we've only managed the first one (reaching a score of 500) so we better go send some more snaps. Tapping the locked ones simply displays question marks so you'll have to work out how to unlock them.

Snapchat's latest update (19th November, 2015) version 9.20.0.0 has added some more interesting features.  This update allowed Snapchatters to slow down, speed up or reverse their videos and also brings the "Lenses" feature to the rear camera. By activating the Lenses while filming someone by holding a finger over their face, you'll see a grid displayed over it, and an array of Lenses at the bottom to swipe over.

The recent update also introduced support for 3D Touch in the new iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. Snapchat has also added small timestamps to the right of your list of stories to watch, indicating how recently a story was last updated. It's a small feature, but it beats guessing how old a story is by eyeballing the shrinking pie chart graphic on each one.

The most interesting feature added in the newest update to enhance your disappearing-picture experience, however is the “Chat”. This Chat feature make it easier to reply to story snaps and easier to chat. Definitely made it a lot easier for people to engage with friends while watching their stories.

This update is available both for iOS and Android and puts a little "Chat" prompt at the bottom of the screen while watching a friend's story. The chat feature is not new in Snapchat, it has been around for quite some time, but now that it is tied to the Story feature, chatting can now be more personal, and maybe even more fun, considering what many teens use Snapchat for these days.

How to Chat with friends and Reply Chat on Snapchat?

Here’s what Snapchat in their official blog had to say about this new feature.

“Swipe right on a friend’s name in your Snapchat inbox to start chatting. When you leave the Chat screen, messages viewed by both you and your friend will be cleared – but either of you can always tap the message or screenshot to save anything you’d like to keep (addresses, to-do lists, etc.)!

We let you know when a friend is Here in your Chat so that you can give each other your full attention. And if you’re both Here, simply press and hold to share live video – and chat face-to-face!”

This Chat feature makes it easier to start a conversation with another user based off something they snap to their story, whereas before users weren't quite sure which snap any incoming message may be replying to. Now, when viewing a snap in someone’s story, you can swipe upward to send that user a direct chat message. The friend you're talking to will receive a notification to the conversation along with the Snap being discussed. Pleease note that to enjoy this new feature you need to update your already Snapchat App.

Happy Snapping!
